How to write a poll people actually answer

A poll gets ignored for boring reasons: too many choices, vague wording, or an option people wish they could add but can't. A few habits fix most of it.

Ask one thing. "Where should we eat?" is a poll. "Where and when should we eat?" is two polls fighting for one set of answers — split them.
Keep it to 2–6 options. Beyond about six, people stop reading and just tap the first thing they recognise. If you have a long list, run a first round to shortlist, then a runoff.
Make the options mutually exclusive. Overlapping choices ("Italian", "pasta", "somewhere nice") split the vote and hide the real winner.
Add an escape hatch. An "Either works" or "Can't make it" option turns silent non-voters into signal instead of a blank.
Turn on multiple choice when the question allows it. For "which of these dates could you do?" people should be able to pick every one that works, not just their favourite.

Getting more responses

Response rate is mostly about friction. quickpoll needs no account, so the only tap between your group and a vote is opening the link.
